Visionary is a typeface designed for the American Visionary Art Museum located in Baltimore, Maryland. AVAM collects works by artists with an innate creative vision and no formal artistic training, which gives the museum a vibrant, alive, and eclectic atmosphere. I channeled AVAM’s vibe into a typeface by using jaunty gesticulated forms, a chunky weight, and slanted edges that make the letters feel in conversation with each other — much like the work in the museum.
